It has been 100 years since the humans have left Avalon. (The doorway between worlds) Now suddenly, the stars of the constellation, The Eternal Flame, are going out. The world is in a panic.
50 years before, after the Village of Prosperity was re-discovered the elves found an odd piece of paper saying, "the heir of Merlin leaves Avalon, and chaos becomes ruler of our fair world. One hope there still may be, to find the staff Olenenei, the staff of Merlin. Said to be on the shores of the Swaying Sea."
As you take your seat in the brightly lit meeting chamber of the Society of the Whole, you remember your purpose for attending this meeting of incredible importance, to chose to follow the legend that Olenenei, Merlin's Staff, is waiting to be found at the Swaying Sea. The high priestess, Olania speaks, "As you all know, the Eternal Flame is dying, I need people to go to the shores of the Swaying Sea, and find Merlin's Staff. Who shall accept this task?"
A young Flemon rises to her feet and says, "I accept the task you place before me without hesitation. It would be an honor to search for the staff of Merlin."
Olania beams and says, "Does any one else accept this task?"

"I'll acccept this task, mam," says a man in the crowd. He stands up and walks up the side of the crowd and to the exit," I'll take the boy if it is okay?"

A small figure stand from it's seat and steps forward from the back of the room completely hidden from view in a gray hooded cloak.
"I wish accept the task, your highness, if you allow." speaks a small voice from within the cloak. The figure raises it hands to lower her large hood to reveal the pale face with white hair. At first glace she looks elven but her ears are clearly that of a half-elf. Her gray eyes move from the high priestess to her two possible comrades and back to Olania before she speaks again.
"As a descendant of humans that Merlin taught I consider it my responsibility to continue my family's legacy by searching for the great staff Olenenei. I know that I am relatively new to the Society, M'Lady, but I feel I must do this, if you allow." She bows her head in respect to Olania to await her decision.
Olania's smiled widens even further as the Eagleman said that he would join the quest. She was not surprised when Fenella asked to join the quest. The aging Elven woman turned to her pupil, "You have by blessing to go on this quest my child." She turned her attention back to the assembled mass. "Ladies and gentlemen, our party has been formed for now. Feel free to move to the side meeting hall to meet with each other."
As the leader of the Society finished, the Flemon woman turned on her heal and walked into the side meeting hall with a nod to her guards. The gathered folk slowly began to disperse.

The eagleman looks in vain through the crowd, trying to find the young boy and old woman. Though through his search he could not find either of the two volunteers.

Fenella smiles upon receiving Olania's blessing. She was continuing in her family's footsteps. This was her duty. She felt as if this was her purpose. She carefully slipped from her seat and moved to the side meeting room. This was one of the reasons she was glad for her small form. Some of the halls of the Society could become quiet crowded and she had quickly learned to use her small form to get where she wanted quickly and away from the crowds. Fenella could be quite shy among crowds. She perfered small groups. She loved her small amounts of time with the High Priestess and would miss them but this... this was her duty.
Fenella got to the room quickly following just after the Flemon woman. She took a seat and waited for any others to join the room. The High Priestess may appoint a few to join the quest, or she may feel a small party to be best. Fenella would wait a see and secretly smile.
As Fenella and Evan enter the room, the Flemon woman nods to each of them in turn, and another Elvish woman in robes belonging to the Society of the Whole. (Fenella recognizes her as Renea, second in command for the Society) The Elvish woman speaks in a weak voice, "Olania will be here soon to tell you what we know about the staff."
Fenella bows her head in respect to Renea and gives a small nod of understanding. She looks at her two companions in the quest, trying to gather what walks of life they both come from. She sits quietly in her chair, curious about her companions. She had always been a bit on the shy side, so she waited for Olania to arrive. Perhaps she would prompt introductions.

The young man, who had volunteered to the task appeared in the doorway. He went to the left side of the door and pulled his hood up, then leaned against the wall. He thought to himself,"what am I gettin' myself into?"

A few moments had passed since the group had seated themselves. Tension only continued to build as the gliding figure of Olania entered the room. The ancient elf nodded to each member in turn, took a slow deep rasping breath, and spoke.
"The three of you are aware that Merlin and his fellow humans left Avalon many a year ago." The elf drew another deep, equally raspy breath, her myrith, a tiny hive spirit, moved closer to her left ear and buzzed something that sounded like an attempt at comfort. "It had been believed that when the staff of Merlin fell to Earth..." She looked around at each member in turn, "That has been proven to be untrue. The staff was found by the Swaying Sea near the village of Golansa. Our sources have informed us that a man name Juisoen has the staff." She held her gaze on Fenella for a moment before continuing. "You must obtain the staff from Juisoen." Her voice became more serious and grave as she continued, "A spy for the Dark Elves heard what our sources told us and has likely gone to Shadowroot to inform the rest of his kin. You must make haste at once to Golansa before the Dark Elves get there." She folded her arms to show she was finished, waiting for questions that she might answer.
Olania sighed again and answered Fenella's question with an air of sadness about her. "I fear that if they find the staff, they will use the staff's power likely enslave Avalon and change the Eternal Flame to something evil, something I dare not imagine." The elf paused to recover her strength, "If this comes to pass, the shadows of Shadowroot will block out the stars, moon, and sun causing eternal night, giving the Dark Elves the power to rule over our world." She kept her gaze fixed on Fenella, Such a clever girl, I sense outstanding potential in all three of them.
Fenella's eyes widen slightly. Enslave Avalon. But why? This doesnt make sense. The Dark Elves... they keep to themselves why enslave the rest of our world. Her memory difts back for a moment to the only Dark Elf she had ever met. She remembered him to be very kind. If Dark Elves want to take over Avalon why was he so nice. Then she remembered something else. He had told her he was an Outcast. He didn't tell her why. Maybe Dark Elves did want to rule. Maybe he had been outcast because he disagreed.
She now understood why she had never heard of this before. The Society tried to see the good in all living things. To admit that a race of Elves were well... evil... it would be a difficult thing to understand. She had to make sure the Dark Elves didnt get Olenenei. She vowed secertly to herself that she would personally hand the Staff to Olania. They would have to be careful. She didn't doubt that the Dark Elves would try to stop them, and if they did beat the Dark Elves to the staff, she felt that the Dark Elves would most likely come after them.
She stands and looks up at Olania. "I promise, we will bring the Staff back here. We won't fail Avalon."

Olania gave Fenella a weak smile as she spoke, and said only this. "I have told you all that I know. Now you must leave for Golansa. May the power of the spirits of Avalon be with you all."
After both of the leaders of the Society left, the Flemon spoke up, "I suppose introductions are in order, my name is Talinia of the Fire Hands, I am the princess of the Flemon Kingdom." She gave each a nod of respect as she waited for them to introduce themselves.
Fenella turns and faces the pair, nodding her head to her two compaions. "I am called Fenella of the Pale Moon, I am but a humble student of the Society, but my healing capabilites are quite advanced. I look forward to our quest together."
She bows her head in respect to the two then looks up sundenly as the left side of her cloak starts jumping around a little. A small, glowing creature suddenly flies out and lands on her shoulder. The glow dimishines to reveal a small spite with moth like wings. It has short pale yellow hair and wears delicate clothing that looks like it might be made from spider webs. It rubs its dark eyes before looking at the two standing before Fenella. It is impossible to tell if it is a boy or girl.
"Oh, and this is my murith, Ayden. Being a moon sprite, Ayden, is a bit noctunal and is often sleeping in a special pocket in my cloak. Ayden always wakes up when needed, though." She smiles fondly at the small thing as it yawns.

"A pleasure to meet you Fenella." Talinia replied in a cheerful tone. Then the creature came out of her pocket, momentarily surprising the Flemon warrior. Fenella simply explained that the creature's name was Ayden and it was a moon spirit, and her myrith. Of course. The royal gave Ayden a nod of respect as well. Her gaze then shifted to the Eagleman, "May I ask what your name is?" Her tone wasn't impatient, but it did carry the Flemon fiery tone.
Fenella nodds to Evan in respect. "It is an honor to join you both on this most important mission." She looks out the window judging the amount of light in the sky.
"Are you both ready to leave? We should be on our way as soon as possible. There is still enough light left to cover some ground, plus Ayden here can guide us even further once night falls. It may be a good idea to travel during night fr reasons of stealth."

Talinia gave Evan a nod of respect. An Eagleman, this should be interesting. I will see first hand if they can truly fight.
The Flemon was brought back to reality by Fenella asking if they were ready to leave and explaining her reasons for thinking they should travel at night. "An excellent idea, Fenella. If we travel by night it is more likely we will run into Dark Elves, I think the it is worth the risk." After a moment's pause the woman continued, "I'm ready to leave now."
