Stat and Skill Check Tutorial!
Ok, so you need to make a check, eh? Read on to find this hidden knowledge…
First, you need to know what kind of check is needed. BB will ask you for a check, such as Mechanics or Agility. You roll 1d20, adding that Stat or Skill to your roll, and hope you beat the Difficulty Threshold for that roll. And bonuses you wish to add are added here, including bonuses due to equipment, racial bonuses, or anything else that may come up.
You also can HELP people! This is rather simply done; you simply state that you wish to help someone with their roll. This takes up YOUR chance at that roll, however, so if you help you can’t do the check yourself. Also, in order to help someone with something, you need to know something about the topic at hand. Because of this, the bonus you add is equal to your base Stat or Skill, divided by 4, rounded down. Thus, a 4 is a +1, while a 7 is still a +1. You would need an 8 to get to +2. Also, the maximum amount of people that can help on a single check is two; any more then three people doing a single thing starts to get really complicated.
Simple, eh? Ok, then, in summery… Check: Stat or Skill + 1d20 + bonus= meet or beat target DT. Assisting: Stat or Skill ÷ 4 = Bonus, max 2 people assisting.

Celest: Your upgraded Hayes entry should read:
SS-7s Hayes Pistol Summer Custom: 1d6+3 Dmg, Impact, [Dual]. CL: 2.
Roll again if you wish to upgrade something else. Specifiy that which you wish to upgrade.

A quick rundown (in no particular order) of locations and...well...genders.
Xi'ku - active party / male Hannalore - active party / female Summer - active party / female Brian - inactive party / male? Za'cha - active party / female Georgiana - active party / female Angels - inactive / female x3
Just an interesting demographic, nothing important.
I love robot women. XD
Also, the LIttle Dude has strep so I'll be dealing with that for most of this week. =[ I'll be online sporadically and I've taken to leaving Trillian open. If you have any questions, feel free to message me or the other Brother.

Here's an interesting question. How many of the party's human characters can understand the Keshian language (which, unless I'm corrected, I shall simply call "Keshian")?
Hannalore CAN understand most of it, along with reading it, but she has never quite been able to wrap he mouth around the syllables. It seems Miss Aoi, of the enemy side, cannot even understand it, for example.
Also, it seems our two resident Keshians, Xi'ku and Za'cha don't have a firm grasp on Colonial, the human language. Thats cool, as each has their reasons for it. I just wanted to clear up that NOT ALL KESHIANS have a problem with the language. As you may have picked up in High School, sometimes foreign speakers have a better grasp on a language then the natives.
For example, Hannalore. She has trouble with getting HER language out; why would she be any better with someone elses?

Combine that with George being quiet and Summer and Brian are the only ones that can speak well. XD
Perhaps a Knowledge: Language skill is in order?

I appologize if I sent two PMs about the awareness checks to everyone. Take the second one as cannon and discard the first.

...I just want to clear up that Xi'ku isn't actually dead. Feel free for your characters to think that, I don't mind, as reactions are playing out pretty well so far.
The players, however, should know this, though. That Ap was used to knock the big guy out, but not dead.
Continue on, I was just a tad worried, so...

Quick update in status:
1. We're waiting on posts. 2. The folks we're waiting on have had schedule issues.
So sit tight and hopefully we'll be back to normal over the weekend.

...or not. Due to the forum downtime, (and my misinterpretation of the dates) we'll resume on the 20th.
Get your numbers straight on your characters.

Q: "I was wondering, if I miss is it possible that I would hit Ted as Karl is moving towards him. I don't know what you guys's rules are for firing at people in close proximity to each other. Not that I'm doing it now, but what if a character fires at some one engagded in hand to hand combat with some one else, wouldn't that someone else possibly be hit?"
A: When dramatically appropriate. We're not getting especially technical. If say Thomas, with an [AOE2] weapon wanted to hit someone standing next time him AND someone across the room, he may do so.

I guess I was just going off of D&Ds casting a spell at someone in a melee combat. I did that once and hit a friend inside of a foe.
I think you were there for that Ant.

Well, that decides it. We've have been discussing the effects of that military rank has been having on the game, and that post shows that, yes, it IS stifling the creative process.
Expect some changes in the next section of the game.
Other then that, good job on bringing the game this far, folks! I'm itching to show you some of the things we've come up with for later on! *laugh*

It warrants explanation.
If my hand was severed perfectly down the middle, I could still use it to count accurately the number of times military rank had been willingly followed in local RPGs with enough fingers left over to flip off whoever disagrees with me.
In short, this is the first RPG that I have played with this crowd where rank has actually been an issue. So much so that some of you are not talking because of some imaginary Pan-Galactic Coalition rule against it, which doesn't quite hold water given the aforementioned crowd's standards of Role Playing.
Therefore, we will make sure that this is not an issue in further adventures. This topic is quite open to discussion...thats an order.
But seriously, discuss. I have to go reply to the first time *name withheld* has spoken to another party member willingly, and without being prompted.
PREEMPTIVE STRIKE[/b]: If there are authority issues in character, they should be resolved in character. You've been given all the information you need concerning that subject.

I argued with the other Brother for a good 10 minutes or so on how to properly present this post. In the end, I'm going with his suggestion.
COMBAT HAS NOT BEEN INITIATED.
We are in the opening stages of a standoff. Weigh in however you would like, but keep in mind this powder keg could go off with the wrong move. Also...
TALKING IS STILL AN OPTION.
