A new species of monkey has been discovered, but a scientist fears that it will suffer a great loss if the plan to deforest the jungle is achieved. I personally think that they shouldn't deforest the area because of several reasons; 1. There is too much deforestation going on worldwide to begin with. 2. Look at the cute monkey 3. Other creatures would loose there habitat also 4. The natives don't even think it's a good idea. What is your opinion?

I agree with everything you said. We have damaged the world too much already, the people are just to thick- headed to realize something is wrong here. It's horrible.

Unfortunately, in many places, the deforestation is caused by overpopulation of humans. Until we get our act together by getting our population down to a manageable size, the cute lil' fuzzie-wuzzies are gonna lose out.

damn, I thought I replied... oh well... You are going to hate me for my personal and unsubstantiated view. Here it goes... Uganda has bigger problems than preserving the habitat of one species of monkeys. The country is rife in violence and political favouritism (not as bad as Sierra Leone or Zimbabwe) and its people are starving. Reducing the habitat would create more crops which generate more income for farmers. This would help them get out of their slump without relying on first world countries that will demand their money back as soon as Uganda starts getting its feet back on the ground. Deforestation is bad, I agree. But the crops are probably going to be used to create food for the many starving people in the country. There, I said it

Deforestation is bad, I agree. But the crops are probably going to be used to create food for the many starving people in the country. I wouldn't put too much faith in that assumption. Uganda's political situation dictates that its farmers would get very little actual gain out of such a situation.
In such countries, only the despots benefit. It is part of our work as first-world nations to do what is best. Sure, we screw up due to corruption too... but when we do rally to a good cause, we can truly better the world.

Very true indeed. If only the government had the brains to find that out.
Oh and Cathy, I don't hate you for your opinion. I think the farmers could use some income myself. However, I don't see deforestation as the only way to get more farmland. Any ideas all?

I agree with you shaggy, because we've already endangered many animals.
