So any one else going? Roger and I are going on Saturday to the one in Taylor MI. Be awsome if some of you peeps could join, but then again, the invite didn't do much last time. Any way, my game play is to hit the frist flight table of the day and then after much assumed ass kickings (thats my ass I'm talkin' about) go a join Roger in Two Headed Giant (that one should go much better). Thus leaving me with two Prerelease cards. I know Ta is crossing her fingers that it will be an Izzet card, or atleast red and/or blue. Edit: All the posts are being updated for their respective prereleases -eun

Let it be known that I am going to the event in Columbus, OH this weekend. All people are invited to join me so long as they can pitch in for gasoline. The more people (maximum of 4 passengers per day), the less gas will cost each person... so get organized!
About how much should we each budget for admission/events Celest? I know that certain events cost more than others. Any idea how I can find out such information?

Ok these are the games I can remember.
Flights, which you get a tourney pack and two booster packs and build a deck from it. They cost $25 and prize I think is a whole box. For participating you receive a promo card.
Next there is Two Headed Giant. Similar to flight in that you get tourney pack and boosters packs but i cant remember how many, cuz i didn't play. You need a partern and you each build a deck. In game you share a life total (40) and a turn. You get to discuss game plays and stuff. You can't share mana but you can share blockers. If one partner is milled both lose. These cost $20 per person, so $40 for a team. Prize is I seem to recall a box. Like Flights, for participating both members of a team wil receive a promo card.
Last I remember is Draft. You should all know how that works. Cost is $15, prize I don't remember but it wasn't great. No promo card.
Ok for total cost, I'd take $100 per day. Thats what I took last time and I had extra left over (of course I didn't eat, when i found the time too the resturantes had closed)You should be able to get in 2 to 3 events in, if you get there for the very first Flight. Getting there early (like hour- half hour before) will give you good chances at getting into frist Flights and mean more events you will be able to play in (though too early you may have to get creative on getting in the place, I'll tell you the story later). If your doing bad in one event you can drop and join the next event starting, whatever it may be. Also, if you get 8 friends/people together you can ask to hold your own draft. They usually let you as long as you have the money and they have the cards. Either way, $100 should cover any events you want to get in, any souveners (I got a pretty t-shirt with Razia on it) or cards you want to buy and food. There is no addmission just entry fees. If you don't play you don't pay. Back packs are a good idea for keeping all your stuff together and with you for those of you with trade bait. There will be lots of people there so keeping your stuff on your back means it shouldn't get swiped. Never can be too careful. There are usually alot more people at these things on Sat then there are on Sun.
Ok, so summed up... 1. Play Flights and THG for good prizes. 2. Drafts are mostly for fun. 3. $100 should cover you no matter what you do. 4. Backpacks are highly recomemed. 5. The earier you get there the better.
Have fun you all.

Well I missed one Prerelease with this thread but I'm bringing it back to the top for this. Make note, I am declaring this the official Prerelease thread and all dicussion of locations, suggestions and invites of these special events should go here. Hey Its only three-four times a year so why not. Any way, let it be know that the Coldsnap Prerelease is being held July 8th and 9th. Let it also be know that I plan on visiting Toledo on the 8th. So here comes the question og the week. Who of you Troy magic playing types would like to venture to Toledo on the 8th and then continue 45 minutes North on the 9th to join me at the Prerelease in Tayor. I expect much crazy maddness to insue when the TMP (Troy Magic Players) meet the ones from the Lapeer County Area. Consider this an official invite.

I expect much crazy maddness to insue when the TMP (Troy Magic Players) meet the ones from the Lapeer County Area. Let it be known that this has been my main problem with going to a Michigan prerelease. Your Michigan players seem to enjoy winning far more than playing the game....
When it comes to the Troy players I roll out with, the fun is in the building of the deck and the execution of its goals within the game. Goals are not simply "to win", but rather how we will win. I know that Artemi and I have equally enjoyed losing quite a few games as winning them.
From my current understanding of things, players up north will go to much greater lengths to win. In fact, I have heard many a tale of 'net decking from that bunch. Such a concept is anathema to Troy playing.
I understand that people play the game differently, and that players like those in Troy are a minority. That doesn't mean either bunch is right or wrong.
Now, this whole schpeil isn't to cause an argument... but rather to point out to you, Celest, why I have not taken you up on this offer previously. I'll likely be there in Taylor this time, but I am DEFINITELY taking this whole thing with a grain of salt. This will decide whether or not I ever come back.

I admitt there is a strong desire to win up here. One reason is the prizes found at tournaments and the fact that these tournaments cost money and well, if you don't win a prize, you feel like you wasted that money. But there are many games where both the winner and loser are equally happy with the match. But I look forward to you coming to Taylor and I hope it will lead to many return visits.
Besides there is no way to netdeck at a prerelease.

Alright! Time for the official notices to go up on Time Spiral. I know we're down to the wire, but here's the skinny: Columbus, OH is the one Lylie and I will be in attendance for. Unfortunately, this was not as well planned as I had wanted, so blugh. However, I'm still interested in hearing about who can get there. I know you can't, Celest, and I wish you the best of luck up north.

If anyone reads this before prerelease, ahem, atreides, I would like to go to the prerelease and I need a ride. I can pitch in for gas cause I'm good like that. I need to know the time your going too. If neccessary I can take my own car and others but I would need to follow someone. I would have posted earlier but I am a procrastinator (also called lazy) at heart.

*sings* "It's that time of year..." So yep, its only a week away . And guess what... I will be attending the Columbus prerelease this time around. Not only that... I will be dragging along one Lylie for sure and possibly a Eunhathes. Taking Lylie and paying for her (and maybe Eun) is my birthday present to Lylie. So it would be really great if the rest of you Magic peeps could attend and we can have a sorta party thing for our birthday Golbin. I'll bring cake.

So.... who's going, who's staying and when and where? Currently, it is unlikely that Lylie and myself will be present for it. We have a transmission to replace on Spunky. T.T So... talk it up!!

I wouldn't mind heading south to Columbus for this one too. If I can find a baby sitter it would be great to grab a Eun or a Lylie just for the day. Now I know they are have the money issues right now so I am suggesting that if we get a few people to go we can all put in five bucks maybe one of them can get in a game.
Just a suggestion.

My attendance is unlikely to impossible... and that's at best. I'm in a production of Romeo and Juliet that venues on those days, and that isn't something that I can ditch or risk being late to.
