This literally made me choke on my soup. So... apparently, Homelands is not part of the Ice Age block (or storyline, possibly). They recently found the old design notes for the third block (known as Coldsnap) and are releasing it come July. And, increase anyone was wondering, Coldsnap will be tourney legal. I... am speechless, really.

A block of ice? You just couldn't resist... could you?
I'm not too high a fan of it being T2 legal... especially without the rest of its block, but it looks like "Look at Me, I'm R&D" has struck again (or perhaps it was Gleemax....).... (massive usage of.... for maximum.... redundancy....)....
Does anyone have an idea as to the implications of this being legal in T2? Quite frankly, it scares me.

Well, from what I understand, Coldsnap will be legal in the way that Ninth is legal. It will rotate out just after Ravnica block, just before Snap-Crackle-Pop (the codename for the next block) does.
Basically, WotC is releasing Coldsnap to drive their sales margins up during a normally "Off" year (ie: No core set). This may mean that in two more years we might see another old set get finished (I wouldn't mind finding out that there's a mysterious "third" Mirage set... or two more Weatherlight sets...) or we may end up with a third Un-set after all. =D Spike, Control Player, you are on my wishlist already!

You are not thinking correctly on your rotations there, mang. Kamigawa rotates out next year. Coldsnap comes in next year. As does Snap-Crackle-Pop. Which means the standard next year will be Ravnica, Coldsnap, SCP, and 9th.
I don't entirely understand why it is Tourny legal, myself, as I cannot imagine it would mesh all that well with Ice Age (as it cannot use most of the cards) OR the current blocks (as it is trying to combo off Ice Age cards). So, mostly, I expect old, powerful cards to be the main contibution to the tourny scene. Maybe it will end up like a 9.5th Edition, except for the Ice Age block?

Thanks to some (possibly faulty) information, it sems about 4% likely that Coldsnap will have Slivers. Just a sweep of the entireNet. On another note: Who knows what color slivers are? GREEN! Of course!

That... makes no sense. Like, at all. Why the heck would Slivers be in Coldsnap?
First, they were not in Ice Age, at any point. Which means that it would not combo off of them, old school cards wise. Storyline-wise, unless this is an actual look at current Otaria (rather then a flashback), there were no Slivers then, either. There are also (currently) no Slivers in Kamigawa or Ravnica, and god forbid that they enter in S-C-P. Meaning that they have nothing to group with, defeating the entire purpose behind Slivers in the first place.
I will believe Licids in Coldsnap before Slivers. And I have heard all kinds of horror stories about how terrible Licids actually were...

Well, that 4% also figures into Snap-Crackle-Pop. >=[

the last thing that revnica needs is slivers in the guilds. *remembers when he had to build a sliver deck to stop lj's elves* we don't need that again!

After reading the books it is decided that Ravnica doesn't need slivers. It already has something mean. The Dirim Guild has this weird creature(s). It a giant mass of leech like things that can take anyform. It is strange becuase while it is between forms it is like a million creatures, but when it is in a choosen form it is one.

However, I can see slivers in SCP (IMHO, more likely) because its supposed to be post apocalyptic Dominaria. I will be watching the rumor mill closely for this one.

So we might be back to the "main" storyline? That would be kind cool; I wondered what they were all up to... Hopefully we will have no more Radiation Angels...

that is really cool. you could like get a 30/30 creature or bigger, then play that, and then play a spell that lets you redirect the target and have the player deck out. *ponders the possibilities* sounds like this set is going to be fun to play with to say the least!
