Boy does Sony step in it deep this time. In truth
Govender said, "We believe a silent response on the issue is not acceptable behavior. Today I want to appeal directly to the people of Japan to help us put pressure on Sony to respond."
This is just as pretentious of a statement as the company its trying to destroy. I hate Sony and would like nothing more for them to burn, but asking permission to use landmarks in games?
I can't quite wrap my head around that dangerous precedent. Are all the WWII games going to have to pay France for using Normandy? Street racing games for using actual cities?
And even beyond that, demanding that the game be withdrawn and asking for a payoff?
What in the hell do Japanese game players (the most elitist in the biz) care about a British religious symbol getting liberated with extreme prejudice while they save the world from alien infestation?
Needless to say, Sony's PR division is going to earn their pay on this one...especially if middle America gets ahold of this info.
