Ok, this is something of an experiment on my part, to get me to write more, especially on my world of Asteria. I will be posting one short ficlet, comprised of 50 words each day (possibly skipping Saturdays). They may connect to each other, or stand alone, but they should show the world from different points, characters and views.
The goals here are somewhat ambitious, but I believe completely reachable. First, I will be getting some fiction writing each day, which I believe I need to get back in practice with. Second, the mostly daily schedule will put me on a deadline, which should help me focus and lure my muse back to me. Third, with the short word limit (which I may eventually up to 75 or 100 as this progresses), I should eventually develop my writing to be concise and rich, giving it an almost poetic feel that I have been attempting for a while now. Last, if I am doing this well, it should provide a rather nice 'slice-of-life' look at my world; this will ultimately help me develop it more richly and fully.
Let’s see how this works, and hopefully I will not miss many posts along the way. -------
‘Dawn always come early in Keth-Suuyin.’ Issui had said, in an attempt to reassure Lantus. But that did not loosen night’s embrace, nor slow his thoughts. They needed Sacred; they’d sacrifice the girl, if need be. He needed Sacred. Or so he wanted to think.
But… What if we’re wrong…?

Lantus couldn't be lying. Or he wouldn't, not to her... right?
But… I’m just a normal girl. Blind, too. I’m no warrior… Why do they need my help?
Hugging Adina close, the panther kitten purred in its sleep. Staring sightlessly into the night, Sacred pondered, restless.
Dawn comes early? Hmph.

Well, third one in and I have already broken my deadline. Typical. ---
Where are you, Blood-bearer?
Marcaeus hunched over his large map, hands clenched. Though months had been spent searching, they had yet to find the Bearer.
“My-my lord?”
He glared at the hesitant man standing in the doorway.
“We… may have found something.”
The messenger was chilled by Marcaeus’ sudden smile.

Next! ---------------- Issui kicked her feet to and fro, feeling the waves tickle her toes. Leaning back, she watched the starlit sky, humming tunelessly to herself. She loved lying on her porch like this…
Looking up, her small features pulled into a frown. She had heard something, and the others were asleep…
