Hey I'm trying this. It would be nice if the rest of you would too. -------------------------------------------------------------------
Meloncoly clings to the side to the Ikiff Motel muttering under her breath. Hulling herself over on top of the building she climbs into the vent system and makes her way inside the building. Dropping out into one of the rooms on the upper level she looks around before checking her cell phone.
"Hmmmm, well the text messages says this is the place. Where the hell are you two?" She quickly moves from room to room pistol at the ready. She knew well enough how to cover a place quickly from the academy, through they never prepared her for anything like these past few months. On the sencond floor she hears some noise. Peeking around the open door she breathes a sigh of relief when she see's it's Annis.
"Well it's bout damn time I catch back up with you. Where's Eun?" She holsters her weapon and drops her pack on one of the beds.
-out in the building next door. Its… I think its time for sleep…
Looking up from her black-backed journal, Annis narrowed her eyes. She knew there were others in the building, but... that was a scratching noise... Slowly putting down her pen and journal, she reached to her side, carefully wrapping her slender fingers around the handle of her axe.
Seeing movement from the corner of the door, Annis smoothly swung her axe out from behind her, pointing it imperiously at the door, sleep suddenly forgotten. Narrowing her eyes, she watched as Meloncoly poked her head around the corner. With a sigh, Annis relaxed, the blade of her weapon dipping to the floor.
Hearing the other woman’s question, she shook her head. "He was downstairs last I knew. I wandered up here to get some quiet." The teen brushed jet black locks out of her face, giving the other woman a hard look. "I thought you were down. What happened?"
Running as quickly as he could, the shadowy figure passed by the NecroTech building and slid, mid-turn, across the slickened streets. The ichor of almost a year of zombie infestation had taken its toll on the city. Eunhathes made a mental note to raid a shoe store next time he ventured near a mall. Suddenly enough, he was in the Ikiff's pool patio. Covered from the depths to the area around it, the pool brimmed with green and black algae. No doubt a side effect of the zombification, Eunhathes cringed nonetheless. He was no stranger to the decay of the city, but it still could churn his stomach. Especially with such a rich stench issuing from the pool. Darting hastily, the odd man slid past a machine barricading the doors from the pool into building. He had a notorious penchant for being places he was not meant to go.
He thought quickly about where Annis and Meloncoly would be. Sprinting for the stairs, he bolted to the second floor. Moving with an unnatural speed, he gently rapped on several doors. "Annis? Meloncoly?" He whispered. At each he hoped his allies could hear him.

Meloncoly sits down on the bed and begins picking at some of her bandages. "Yeah I was out for a bit there. I think Eun musta found me and put on of 'em needles in me. Woke up with Noche staring me down with that damned dazed look." She shakes a little bit. "Damn I hate that look, gives me the creeps. Anyway I tried to get the Factory set back up but it didn't really work. Nearly went cold again, if ya get me. Anyway Eun texted me so I headed on down."
She stands back up and strecthes a bit. "So Eun's on the bottom level huh? Not the safest place to be, but hey, I guess he likes playing dangerously. Any other survivors here or just us Chosen?"
She suddenly stops and looks at the door hearing something outside. She draws her pistol and takes aim at the door. "Eun," she calls out, "That better be you."
Standing from his hunch, the shadowy Eunhathes turned the knob slowly, almost wearily. He didn't care in particular what was waiting on the other side of the door, only that he heard Meloncoly and that he could sleep.
The tall, misty figure slipped through a small crack, no more than a half a foot, in the door. Sliding in and leaning against the door to close it, he said, "Good... to see you... again. I have... run... all over... the area.... looking... Noche..." With that, the man's eyes closed, and he proceeded to lower his chin to his chest. His neck would hurt in the morning, but with the running he had done, his body refused to be pushed anymore.
She watches as Eunhathes falls aslleep at the door. "You damn lucky bastard." She reholsters her gun and sets herself to the task of draging Eunhathes to his own room and maybe and a bed. She gets him into the room acroos the hall and finds it easiest so set him up on the couch. "Better than the wall I guess." she smiles as she leaves him alone. Walking back to Annis's room an idea hits her. She quickly runs from room to room checking the bathrooms. Gathering all the shapoo, lotion, body wash and whatever other bottles she finds she heads over to the stairs and makes the bottom 10 steps as slick as she can with the stuff. "Heh, that should gives those Zs a fun time. She then drags any loose furniture she can to the top of the stairs. Smileing at her work she goes back and gathers her stuff from Annis's room.
"I'll let you have this room to yaself. Night." She finds a comfortable looking room at the end of the hall away from the stairs and puts the desk infront of the door before hitting the pillows.
Snapping her head away from Meloncoly, Annis glared the door, left hand gripping the handle of her trusty weapon. She watched the door handle slowly turn...
Then jumped as she watched a flow of mist come through the doorway. The young lady grit her teeth, as she slowly released her death grip. "I, I really wish you wouldn't do that..."
Part of the reason she hated it when her comrade did his 'mist trick' was that she had no idea how he was doing it. He did seem to actually go insubstantial, as he had once moved directly through a mesh covering into an air vent.
Another reason she despised it was because she wished herself the ability; despite the effort it seemed to take the man to do it, it was something of a rather useful trick to have. She could think of at least one time where it would have gotten her out of a rather sticky situation...
The last, she was forced to admit, was out of simple fear. She had, during this past year, gotten a grasp on such simple ideas like death and resurrection, the living and the (un)dead. But this... this was something entirely different. Something arcane and forgotten. Something that she just knew was... somehow... alien...
Flames licked his face and there was his rival standing, laughing at him. Eunhathes could do nothing to save the ones he cared for the most, his allies for so long. Suddenly, an odd noise awoke him. The dream of his home faded into the morning light like wisps of fog.
He looked about and saw his two allies sleeping. Casually, he shruged and opened the door to the room. He left as quietly as he could. Moving to the stairwell, Eunhathes could see what the noise was. Zombies were steadily bashing against the barricades, moving them out of the way. The others had no warning! He had to do something. He shouted out, "ZOMBIES!! GET OUT!" Before he knew what was what, he was trying to wake his friends. "Meloncoly, Annis! Come on!" When they didn't wake up, Eunhathes had to do the only thing he could to ensure the survival of the Chosen: He fled.
Meloncoly stands up a shell of her regular self, her eyes are empty and dull yet at the same time filled with rage. She jumps at the first thing she sees, another zombie. Maybe the one that attacked her, probaly not, but logic does not currently exist in her brain. She swings madly at the creature and knocks it down. She then stands again here eyes still dull but now mornful as well. She walks out the door and heads North only because that the way the door pointed.
Moving quickly and silently, the otherwordly form moved a few blocks to the south of the old stronghold. Passing through hordes of zombies, he suddenly spotted something out of his dark eyes. Meloncoly! He whispered to himself. Shifting his misty form to pass between the zombies, he located her. He looked deep into her eyes to double check. Nodding, he produced a Revivication Syringe from beneath his flowing robes. Shoving it into her skin, the serum went to work. He only watched for a moment as she convulsed on the ground. With a heavy conscience, he proceeded onwards.
(Entering Ikiff)
Just as hasty as he had left, he re-entered the Ikiff. Searching around amongst the zombies, he searched for Annis. Sadly, he entered the room and found her still lying dead on the cot. He checked her vitals. Some zombie had ripped her throat open. He placed a hand on her eyes. She was still in there, somewhere, waiting for the regeneration that the zombies passed to the living. He could hear her rattling inside. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "Don't worry, old friend. I will be back to help you." Suddenly, he heard a zombie shuffle up the stairs, he ducked quickly into the bathroom, through the other side. Leaving through an open window, he shifted into a misty state and skittered down the brick face down to street level. Eunhathes collected himself and proceeded to disappear into the night back towards the base.
Meloncoly stands up as her surroundings come into view. She instinctively draws her weapons as she finds herself in the center of a massive horde of zombies. She stops though, befroe taking aim as she see's that none of them are doing anything. She looks around and reads the nearby building. "Oh, ya all are waitin' for revives. Sorry can't help you there." She smiles wearily at them and makes a run for the hospital. Dashing inside she quickly finds a med-kit and patches her self up best she can. "That will have to do for now," she mutters to her self. "hmmm, this place looks a bit weak." She smiles at the sleeping surviors in the place and quickly but quietly beefs up their barricades, beofre ducking out again. She then heads south, back to the motel. Sliping in through a window she relizes her mistake. "Shit she says as 4 zombies look at her hungrily. Drawing her weapons she fires only to her the unsettling click of being out of ammo. "Oh hell, come on I just woke up!" She looks at the opne door as the zombies surround her and she starts swings wildly at them. She screams for help as she feels her self pulled under.
A weak arm grabs her leg and pulls her out. "Noche?!" she looks at the dead eyes of her friend as the zombie turns and begins swinging at her hungry attackers. She see's Alma Seaspire doing the same. "Thanks you two. I might just get out of here yet. I promise to try and revive you as soon as I can." She says as she struggles to make her way to safety.
Making her way weaking to the upper floors she manages to find a way to the factory SW of the motel. She could tell form the outside that the place was barricaded. She hoped that meant surviviors were inside. Collaspsing on the upper level she can't gather the strength to see just how safe she is.
Eunhathes watched as the three women passed him up in the safehouse. He knew he would beat them back to the base, but they would do good work nonetheless. He revived one zombie, dumped his body outside, and reinforced the barricade. Satisfied with his work, he shifts into his misty self and leaves through the cracks between the refuse in between the buildings.
Meloncoly and the Almas returned and gave their report of the goings on in the Police Station. "Excellent work. We have to keep the area secure. Keep it up everyone." For a brief moment, Eunhathes seemed to fade. His shadow glanced around right and left. This simple task for him was like breathing to anyone else. Splitting ones essence was, after all, elementary. He suddenly snapped back to solid. "Next task: Arm up to retake St. Perpetua's Hospital. Rally together for an attack tomorrow." He paused to take a breath. This place required frugal use of his powers. "Five xombies strong. Looks tough. You three, do it just like you did today." He added, almost as an afterthought. "I'll be running support this time, too."
Meloncoly takes her time cleaning and loading each one of her pistols. She was still a bit short on ammo. But she could kill a zombie. If she got lucky with the shots. She and the two Almas had been doing everything she could to try and take back the hospital and nothing was working. Too many of the zombies were immune to the sryinges so that ment that it was up to her and Eunhathes to kill them, or atleast scare them off. They weren't doing a great job at it. "Damn it Annis," she muttered under her breath thinking of how the hospital would be claimed by Zs one more night. "Where are you and that damned ax of yours. We could use you." She over at the other survivor in the factory other than Eun. He looked roughed up a bit, unfortunatly Seaspire was busy looking for syringes when he came in so she hadn't been able to fix him up yet. She wondered if this person would consider joining the Chosen. She and Noche had made it a point that every place they had reclaimed from the Zs they would tag, to tell other survivors that the Chosen were fighting back against the Mock. They had hoped this would help woth recuirtment, but so far either no one had noticed the messages, or no one cared enough to help those who help them. She was will to bet her pistol it was the second one. She sighed and walked over to Eun.
"What are we gonna to do, Eun? No one cares that the Chosen are goin' out of our way to reclaim this area from the Zs. What really burns me it that we don't need the buildins. I mean when you think about it, we could let the Zs keep 'em and just duck in and serch 'em when we needed somethin. Havin power in soma the places is nice, but it's not by any means necasary. Not to mention we can't seem to keep the power going for long anyways. I mean has anybody been askin "who are these Chosen?" or "how can we help?" All they really seem to care is that they've got someplace safe to hide their asses. I just don't get it. I mean ya'd think that they'd figure out at some point that joinin together, they'll be safer, they'll have some one to heal 'em, or revive 'em. If every one could just being so god damn selfish, we might have a chance at actually clearin the city. I mean, I know before my station was taken there was rumors of the goverment wantin to bomb the city, if every one left. But people are staying, not all of them cuz they are trying to fight. A lot of 'em are doing it for selfish reasons." She sighs again. "What are we gonna do Eun, huh? What are we gonna do?"
At that point Alma Noche storms down the stairs cursing up a storm. Mel knew she had just come from the nercotech building obvisouly things weren't good. Noche dumps a load of books in front of them and starts bitching about all they found were books. Meloncoly just smiled at her and slipped away back to her corner where she had set up a bed and her belongings. She would have to let Eunhathers deal with Noche. He was good at heandling bitching. It was one of the reasons he was the leader. He could handle panic and he could handle bitching. Mel could handle panic, any good cop could. She couldn't handle bitching though. If she tired she just end up bitching back.
Eunhathes looked at Alma and then at Meloncoly. "You are right." He produced a map as if from nowhere. In a simultaneous squat and unfolding, the map was instantly on the floor with the odd mist off a human form on top of it, running his fingers across its gridline system. "We are here. Our headquarters, of course. We need to definitely expand. The Mock is our primary concern and we should proceed with caution. However," He produced a Sharpie pen. "We should consider taking some buildings with graffiti." He circled the key buildings in a sixteen square block radius. "It is easiest to enter through these buildings. This will remain HQ. The NecroTech Building to the northwest will remain a safehouse. We will use the Rounds Boulevard Police Station as our armory. I will go to Banting Towers through a back door and provide advertisement along the way. Banting will be our recruiting post. Each person will take a one week tour there. We will rotate to get some rest back here." He stopped his speech.
"Any questions?" Before anyone could answer, however, he was gone. The map, suddenly and inexplicably pinned to the wall by two ornate, sapphire and platinum daggers, was a testament to the plan Eunhathes had just come up with.
(Streets, Necrotech, and Ventilation Ducts, oh my!)
Annis sat up, gasping raggedly. Taking deep, shuddering breaths, she shook her head, trying to clear it. Feeling a light buzzing sensation at the base of her next, she knew that she had been... knocked out... again.
Why is it always when I go to sleep!?
Hearing he name being called, she looked up to see Eunhathes waving his hand, making sure she saw him. He then ducked into the same building, leaving her alone on the street. She blinked, as she suddenly realized her situation.
Pushing herself to her feet, she swung her hand back and found her trusty axe, sitting in it's handhold she had made for it on her back. Somehow, it always ended up there when she woke back up...
Pushing and chopping her way past the small crowd at the base of the building, she stepped inside. Seeing no one inside, she realized this was simply and entrance building. Scanning the area, she wandered through the quiet Necrotech facility, looking for something she could use. Noticing a ventilation duct on top of a flight of stair, she pulled herself up and carefully closed the screen behind her.
Rummaging around in her pockets, she found what she was looking for; a green glow stick. Snapping the thing, she used to light her way, as she worked out how to get to the next building. At times, she thought she was lost, but she had gotten pretty good at this over the long months. Soon enough, she saw non-green light in front of her, as she came around the corner.
Pulling open the vent, she saw Eunhathes on the other side. Dragging her tired body through, she waved at the man as she pushed a nearby refrigerator against the vent.
Suddenly, as if cued, the head of the mysterious Eunhathes jerked from his position into a south-easternly stare. "She is here..." Was all he whispered. Suddenly, he was gone from the Banting Towers. All that lingered of him was a echoing, haunting voice, "Patience, Annis. I will return with Her."
(At the Stoate Building) Eunhathes transformed himself into the mist and ducked through, around, and over standing corpses. He was vehement about the Mock taking out part of their reclaimation effort. But he would deal with them later. Entering the Stoate where he had sensed Her, he looked around. He did not see her, but instead another of the undead. He did not see who he expected to, and in frustration declared, "Fine, then, foolish mortal. Have life again! Peace be upon you now!" Eunhathes rammed the syringe he was carrying into the cadaverous muscles. As the body regained shape and color, regenerating to it's original mass, Eunhathes disappeared from view into the HQ. If She was close by, he would have to be near to help her. She had been dead for some time, now.
Meloncoly wakes up suddenly. She stands and begins to pace a bit. Something is wrong she knows it. She feels it. "Damn it!" she checks the barricades, weakened but still up and stable. No it something else. Suddenly it hits her hard in the stomach. "The Station. Hell no! I won't let it be taken! Not again! Not another one! She dashes off yelling something about medkits to the Almas. She races o the Police Station and finds the doors wide open.
"God damn it! All right Zs." She loas her shot gun and readies it. "You messed with the wrong station! You messed with MY station!" She walks in and immediately sees one Zs cornering a techie. Taking aim she pulls the tigger and lead fills the zombie's dead brain. Walking over she kicks the dead thing and looks at the techie. "Find the others. Get to the upper floors, now!" She cocks the gun and walks carefully searching for her prey. She hears a low moan in the oher room, she swings her self around the corner quickly and takes aim at te zombie kneeling over a dead body. She lets the lead fly once more and instantly drops th shot gun for her favoritered weapon, her pistol. She fires a few rounds as she draws her sidearm from her boot and fills the zombie with casings. She smiles and continues her search.
She sighs as she finishes her rounds of the statin. Only two good. The survivors had been sent to the top floor where the Alma's would see to them. She quickly dumped the bodies outside. She knew speed was important with these things. Zs could rise again as any given time. As she dumps the last body she feels the weight of sleep hit her shoulders. Quickly putting up a loose barricade. She bids the survivors luck and invites them to follow her if hey can. Other wise get the barricades stonger.
