Blessing
(For my younger sister Michelle)

Stand with me when I feel small
Cheer with me when I feel tall
Charge once more into the fray
Greet and smile every waking day
Falter not, fear not, step straight ahead
Forgive many, forget few, don't die until you are dead

Keep the faith deep in your heart
Believe in the light, the fresh new start
Don't fear the fall, fear if you don't rise
Fear the missed joys of sunny skies

Stand tall where others kneel
Listen to your heart, say what you feel
Know that you possess the courage to keep going
And with every step you keep growing and growing


My sister leaves for university in a week, and I might only see her in six months maybe more. She is my closest friend and I will miss her

As far as mechanics, there are a couple of points that I could mention.

But I won't.

It seems that this poem is meant for one special person. It will hit her and she will understand it and value it just as it is. I just feel special because you chose to share it here.
