The Crystal Heart

The Crystal Heart looks like Glass
Yet it cannot be broken

The Crystal Heart is hard as Stone
Yet light can shine through it

The Crystal Heart is cold as Ice
Yet it can be warmed, never melted

The Crystal Heart shines like Gold
Yet it can never be tarnished

You cannot break it, you cannot burn it
All you do will wash away

Try as you might you cannot destroy it
Bury it and it will rise again one day

The Crystal Heart will rise in darkness
It will transform the blinding light

The Crystal Heart will withstand the hardships
To become a shining star in its own Northern Lights

I really like the tone and the message. The resilience of the human emotional state, even though it seems tentative at times, is really phenomenal.

The defiant statement in the middle couplets is a solid way to reinforce the wistful air of the first four. Then you complete it with a positive outlook for the future, metaphorically speaking.
