Hey guys, Here's an interesting question. How do you find the inspiration for your poems? For example, mine normally start with a word or phrase that sticks in my head and replays over and over until I write it down - not all are appropriate for poems (or sound silly when I write them down). It always starts that way

That's a tough one for me. There are a lot of different areas that give me inspiration for writing. Sometimes, it is a phrase that slips into my head, like "Learning Spanish in self-defense".
Sometimes, someone does something that hits me hard, as when my second son played, at the age of 4. in a toy mock-up of a hospital. He mimicked exactly the staff of the emergency room even to the details of the surgical staff.
Often, I see or hear something that reminds me of something else and I try to explain the link that I find between the two.
Occasionally, I just need to scream at something and the poor paper is in the wrong place at the wrong time. LOL.
