Following the knight at sedate pace, Deus brushed himself off, keeping an ear out for any other attackers. He asked outloud, to the quiet air around them. "What things should we expect? Anyone been in someplace like this before? Any guesses of what is keeping the spirits in this place?" --- I got a 5 on my check, though I don't quite recall how I get the target number. I have a Mind of 4 and a Soul of 5, though, and I don't have any ranks in listen...
Mi'ia looked around. She shouldn't have a problem since the spirit was contacting her right. In the past it had been that way. The only trouble was when she was finding a spirit that didn't want to be found. Since this one doesn't have a problem with me maybe it'll show itself again.
((OOC: i rolled a 4.))
"You think that you can tell us apart? Many have tried, but then again, many have failed. What do you think the price for that is?" The Three Sisters Lylie-governess to a child of the first plain "You grew up. Thats a shame. The carousel never stops turning. You cant get off either. Its a shame."
Kiley stays close to Pol. Looking around at the the area around them. "Pol," she says quietly. "You said something earlier about seeing the life around you. How does that work?"
((Ma'Ia and Pol)) Both of you hear the faintest cry for help from the southward doors. It is feeble, and you can see the spirit actually beginning to wane from existence. Whatever it is, it seems to be getting closer to Pantheon, not further from it.
((Deus)) Your acute ears picks up on something unexpected: The wheezing rasp of someone dying. You've heard it before: In the hunt, in the wild, in battle. Now, however, you know that this is not the place for such a thing.
((General Post)) The Supplicant Tia Tashine bowed her head in reverance and listened with her open heart and her mind full of psalms. Suddenly, her head snapped to the doors to the south, where she promptly ceased her prayer partway. The thing which had attracted her attention was pressing and urgent. "...dying." Was all she could mutter, being stunned and stopped mid-thought.
Kraln continued to look at his Supplicants. He hoped that he had not led them all into a deathtrap. He certainly didn't want to face the Willow with that kind of knowledge upon him.
Looking around, Deus' head snapped in the direction he had heard the weezing. Narrowing his eyes, they widened as he realized what the gasping sound could be. "Anyone else hear that? Sounds like someone is dying..." He growled low in is throat, before stalking in the direction of the sounds. He knew he had to help, but didn't want to leap willing in a trap, either...
Mi'ia looked at the spirit and started towords it. She had to go to it. It was fadding. She had to know what it wanted. Mi'ia didn't look back at the other suplicants. They could come if they wanted but she needed to know what it wanted.
"You think that you can tell us apart? Many have tried, but then again, many have failed. What do you think the price for that is?" The Three Sisters Lylie-governess to a child of the first plain "You grew up. Thats a shame. The carousel never stops turning. You cant get off either. Its a shame."
Pol replied to Kiley's statement, " I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it has to do with being blind in the normal sense...we should see what this dying one wants...if nothing else, we can read it it's last rites."
After speaking Pol walked towards the dying spirit, sutra's still in hand, but mentally preparing the last rites.
Kiley moves with the others towards the sound of some one dying. She felt that maybe she had the ability to save them some how. Her mind was filed with the desire to help and feel useful.
As soon as the door is cleared, a stairwell becomes apparent. Wide enough for four people to walk abreast, it is a grand and still glorious testament to the builders of this tower. However, it is the figure at the bottom of the stairs that captivates everyone's attention. A semi-shadow veiled creature lays at the foot of the left banister, wheezing and breathing heavily. Through the labored breaths, a soft prayer can be heard. The voice is oddly masculine, and deathly weak, barely even a whisper.
Rushing over to the collapsed figure, Deus scanned the room, looking for any threats. Sparing a moment after the scan, he crouched down, looking at the crumpled man. "Can you talk, sir..."
Kiley steps forward and kneels next to the man, she speaks softly to herself, so soft it is near impossible to hear. "I've always felt like," she places her hands over the man, hovering slightly over the barely breathing cheast. She closes her eyes and begins to consintrate. Willow, you've already shown great power of destruction in me. I always wanted to be a healer. I've always felt like I should be. Is there still more in me? Is this my destiny? Please Willow, let me heal this man. Praying still in her mind. she silently she places her open plams on his chest. --------------------------------------------------------- Ok not 100% sure what I'm rolling here but everything is 2 D6 so I got 1 and 3 so a total of 4.
((Sorry guys, if you didn't post I'm moving on anyway. I got to keep it moving.))
As Kiley's spell finishes, there is an aura of radiant light surrounding the body. A sharp gasp penetrates the room as the person shudders and arches their back in pain. It struggles and twists to attempt to turn around. Kraln reaches down and clasps the man on the shoulder, bracing him and aiding his spirit simultaneously. As the person finally rolls over and into view, there is a brief gasp from Kraln, "Freel... Tiilgato? How... did you end up this way?"
Freel, the Knight that had accompanied the Grandmaster, spoke in a raspy voice. "She... has her... tried to stop... I fell." The Infiltrator was weary, obviously, but he tried to sit up. "Must help... her."
Kiley stands up in shock for a second, amazed that her attempt even worked. Suddenly the relization of everything hits her. "We need to help the Grandmaster," she says looking at everyone. "We need to hurry." She says as she starts up the stairs, not entirely thinking of the situation, just knowing that some one needed her help. Willow, you have made my path more clear to me in the past few days than I have ever know in my extistence. I devote myself to you. I am your tool, please use me. Let me help your servant.
Pol nods to Kiley and moves to ascend the stairs in front of her, " let me go first, I can push back any undead in the path."
As Pol moves to get in front of Kiley on the stairs, he says back to the others, " we should move quickly, I'm guessing that whatever did this will be after any others protecting the grandmaster, and if it can't get to them, it may come back to finish it's job. Deus, and Sir Kraln, I would suggest you stay here to protect the injured. This will also give us a place to fall back to if things get out of hand."
((geez, has everyone forgot about this? sadly I have to admit that I did ^^)
"I agree with Poll. One of us should stay but I do not know if it should be kraln who stays. He should come with us so that way we might not have to fall back. In my oppinion anyways." mi'ia shrugs and waits for someone to say what they are doing.
"You think that you can tell us apart? Many have tried, but then again, many have failed. What do you think the price for that is?" The Three Sisters Lylie-governess to a child of the first plain "You grew up. Thats a shame. The carousel never stops turning. You cant get off either. Its a shame."
Looking around carefully, Deus nodded to himself. "I can hold this ground here. I belive I am the best suited for holding and defending a position; my style of combat fits well this role. Go quickly, now, the others may require aid soon..."
Crouching down next to Freel, he looked the man over. "Is there anything I can do to help your pain?"
The voice was not just Kraln's, it was also Freel's. The two spoke in unison, but the Knight leading the Supplicants let his bretheren speak first. "I am... a Knight of the Grandmaster's keeping... I will be fine." Tiilgato looked Kiley in the eyes, "Whatever gift you have is wonderful. Truly... a blessing of the Willow herself."
Kraln finished the thought. "That is correct. I also cannot leave any of you behind. As you are Supplicants, we either move together or not at all." Suddenly, he looked quite remorseful. "I understand all of you, your desire not to abandon a fellow. However, each of us knows our path is metered out. We know our duties and gladly would lay our lives down to see the Dream fulfilled." Kraln looked at Freel. "We will be back again, rest assured." Turning back to the Supplicants, Kraln spoke somberly, "We have a Grandmaster to rescue. Let's get moving."
The Knight began moving up the stairwell, directing the Supplicants as he went. "Pol, beside me. Kiley, behind Pol. Next Lylith and then Deus." Waiting for the group to form, Kraln shrugged his own memories off. Long ago, when he was younger, he had to make hard choices, too. If weren't for the words of Aika, he too would have died with the wounded at Bravery's Tears. Perhaps he was leading these Supplicants to their deaths, perhaps he was saving them. The only thing he knew is that their paths had led them here. He would be cast to the Wasteslands before he let any of them down. In the scheme of the Dream, that meant teaching them about the paths others must take, too.
======== OOC: Appologies for the length in time to replying. Sagetim, I didn't forget. I was just waiting for a Staff Meeting to clear up some issues. In any case, ALMOST 300!! Woot!

Pol nods to Kraln, and turns back to Freel for a moment. " good luck old timer, just yell if you need help."
Pol then moves into his designated position behind Kraln and says, " To the rescue of our Grandmaster!"
test or not, if that old man dies I'm going to feel guilty about it. If this is indeed a test, then the grandmaster will probably have lured or created whatever we're going to face to 'save' them. If it's not a test, then I'm just going to hope that the grandmaster's group has weakened it enough for us to have a fighting chance...maybe I should start carrying animal treats and such...
Kiley tops on the stirs and faces the others as they discus. When Freel speaks to her she feels pride and confindence. She lowers her head in thanks. "Thank you, sir." she says to him. She then turns nd takes he place behind Pol. She felt safe in this position. She knew here Pol could see whatever she could not and warn her and the others. She trusted his strengths and powers. She also knows that her gift can be used to help protect them if needed. She prays silently to Willow, thanking her.
Looking closely at Kraln, Deus nodded when he saw the look in his face. He had seen it before, on other warriors in his travels, and had some idea of what might tumoil might be there.
Turning, he stood, then, settling his pack. "Very well then. We should be off quickly; both Freel and the Grandmaster may need our help."
