Alright... there seems to be a problem here. It has come to my attention that we don't all necessarily know the context of this game (Remnant). Therefore, I am going to attempt to put this clearly and bluntly AGAIN.
Nobody in this game is "safe". You see, in many a game out there, PCs have a habit of feeling safe from death and even serious harm and debilitation. Rather than squash this assumption by killing off a character to make my point, I'm going to be much nicer. I'm telling you here and now.
You, as players, need to keep your heads about you. Don't take brash actions unless they are necessary or fit your character concept. If they do fit your character concept, but still aren't smart, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't take those actions. It just means that your character might pay for it.
We role-play to step into the shoes of somebody other than ourselves. We also role-play for the story that unfolds throughout. If your character would take a certain action (and this is ALL hypothetical here), then you should have them take that action. This is NOT a game of out-smart the GM.
If that action, though completely in-character, ends up with your character being injured or killed... then that is what happens. It is upon this truthful sanctity that our story is built. I made it clear at the beginning that NOBODY IS SAFE. I made it so clear that I told you all to have a back-up character ready.
Since that time, I have had 0 back-up character profiles submitted to me for approval. I have not even heard a peep about a single one of them even being pondered on. This is not an oversight on my part.
To ensure an environment accurate and realistic to the story and universe, people have to be at risk. There will be points where you are safe from harm, but if I'm doing my job correctly, then you shouldn't be able to recognise those moments. This constant paranoia is part of the Maquis themselves, and I am here to make sure that you get a true Maquis experience.
If that means your character's utter and full mortality, then so be it. This is what you signed-on with, and possibly even for. This should not discourage you, but rather liberate you to post EVEN MORE in-character. You don't have to out-think me... you just have to get into the head of your character. It's my job to fill in the rest.
