American Anime AwardsSo there is an Anime club at Mott (the college i just got my Associates from, yea me) and I am some how technically a member even though I've never been able to get to a meeting. Anyway I got the newsletter today and at the end the was a link to the American Anime Award Winners. Its a short list of awards but hey its pretty cool. I can't really disagree with there choice for Best Feature. And I'm pretty sure that Artemi is happy with Best Long Series and all the other things that Anime won. So yeah who agrees and disagrees? Go and discus peoples.

Unfortunately, it looks like a whole bunch of Cartoon Network shows... I see a lot of FMA, FLCL, and Zatch Bell...
Also, it seems to only have a winner for comedy anime, not dramas, action, or even sci-fi... personally, I think those actors/actresses could use recognition too. Something quirky, just because I'm me, would be a "Worst Actor/Actress" category. I think One Piece would have swept the house on that one!
Also, glad to see z-e-r-o DBZ there. ^.^
BTW: Debi Derriberry... Ryo-ohki for the win!

Is this whole awards thingy only for the past year? If so, then the results are excusable. If not, then they have some 'splainin' to do.
BTW: Zatch Bell was teh suxorz!!1!1!

I'm... not sure where these numbers are coming from. Ghost in the Shell only got one award, and that for a VA? No Scrapped Princess? Why no Gundam SEED? FMA was good, though, I have to admit.
I definatly understand about the obvious Cartoon Network bias, though; that is where most anime is experinced in the States at this time. We'll see with the next years awards, with Anime on Demand and other such channels gaining momentum...

This is what happens when you expose something cool to America.... Not-so-great parts of it get into the hands of after-school-TV-watching kids and everything goes to hell. You piss me off, America.
The Japanese know where it's at. So c'mon America, let's leave the awards to the pros.
BTW: Thank everything that there's no Naruto on there (unless, of course, there was a yearly award for most pointlessness before getting to the point).

From my understanding, the Japanese have been doing nothing but showing underage panty shots for the past 2 maybe 3 years. Real plot heavy [/sarcasm] series like Negima, Daphne and Haruhi are whats bringing down the big ratings. Naruto and FMA were exceptions in this regard and while I'm not a fan of FMA myself, they should atleast be applauded for not resorting to blantant and frequent fanservice for their ratings. Consider what Zatch Bell had to compare itself with. As this list is of an 'anime' composition and not an 'animated' one, it only had Bobobo and the Knights of the Zodiac dub to compete with. In comparison, Zatch Bell is comedic genius though it falls kinda flat against Family Guy and Futurama. GitS gets (lol) a VA award!?! Its like a slap in the face but not showing Stellvia or Scrapped Princess on public airwaves shows just how messed up TV thought patterns are. Award committes (no matter how hilariously pitched) only work with what they are given. In 2006 it was FMA, before that it was Inuyasha and before that it was like 3 straight years of DBZ. I bear them no malice. Perhaps we should come up with some awards ourselves, it could be fun. =] I also agree with Eun. Wendee Lee needs a Lifetime Achievement award in the same vane as Megumi Hayashibara.

...You know, I never DID look up Daphne... Seems I wasn't missing much outside of the opening song (which, really, is one of my favorites). I also couldn't help but notice that vid is clearly marked "Clean". *laugh*
