With the advent of my boyfriend arriving, I've been turned on to a few new animes that I haven't seen before, but am currently loving.
The first of which is Mazinger Z. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who love Giant Robots/Super Robots. One of the biggest drawbacks to the series thus far is that the DVD set that I have is a fan sub, from Chinese and thus has some major translation errors from the Japanese. For instance, you'll hear "Kyoji! You are home comming!" insted of "Kyoji! Your Home!"....it's sometimes the little things like that that can turn you off, but if you can deal with it like I can, it's a great series.
The second shows my love for random and ridiculous anime, I'm of course talking about Tokyo Pig. I can't say much for the series on a deep and technical level, but if you like to laugh at random happening I recommend it ^_^. One must also keep in mind that the series was meant to be watched by young adults...there is some "potty Humor" in it...
Despite it's stint on Adult Swim, I didn't get to catch it...Samurai Champloo. It's the perfect mix of modern influence and feudal Japanese culture. The soundtrack is amazingly good, and the story grows on you. I now own it, so if people would like to see it, all they have to do is ask.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex as well as Second Gig, is worth seeing. Period. There isn't a good excuse for not watching it, even if you don't like the cyber punk genre. Shirow Masamune is a ledgend. Not wanting to see it, is like saying that you don't like chocolate.....which means you need to get of my planet.
