Halo 3

Alright folks, lets get this chat thing started.

What are your thoughts on Halo 3, thus far? Do you think its overhyped? Are you excited to play it? Secretly afraid of Grunts?

Actually I've heard that they are tweaking some key mechanics like reload times, and the time it takes to change weapons. It seems they are making the times relative to the encumbrance of the weapon, perhaps dissuading the haphazard use of rocket launchers and turning the game to more of a fire fight than a quick and dirty race for bigger guns.

That would be nice, but I hold little faith in Bungie as of current. Big Daddy Microsoft has them too much under the thumb.

I have to put my two cents worth in about this, so I might as well get it out of the way now. I understand that alot of people like the game, and don't get me wrong...I'll play it. But as of right now, my stance on Halo is firm. I'll play co-op with people to see the game and if I like it for the story elements. But as far as multiplayer goes, you can all count me out.

I honestly don't belive that any game like Halo should be introduced into this group as a whole for the purposes of multiplayer. It detracts from conversation, and it also degenerates time with friends into screaming matches...like it always does, and always will do. I only need to point out Halo, Halo 2, and Gears of War, as evidence. It turns into a "whose cock is bigger" match, which I will not subject myself to anymore.

Other than that, I think it looks like a good game, as far as graphics, gameplay and story goes. I'm looking forward to playing campagin mode.....and that's about it.

Halo 3 will only be good for one reason: Grunts. They were funny in Halo. They were funny in Halo 2. Why wouldn't they be funny in Halo 3?

I'm glad there's a full feeding nipple back on the starship. 'Cuz, man, have I worked up a big, grunty thirst.

Grunt 1: Me have bad feeling about this.
Grunt 2: You have bad feeling about everything. You have bad feeling at morning food nipple.

That's part of the problem, Eun. In Halo (as in the "one and only"), the grunts were just another unit. Sure, they said somewhat funny things when you shot at them or they were put in certain situations... but they were always a somewhat realistic enemy (just one that was a few cans short of a six-pack).

In Halo 2, the grunts were entirely relegated to comic relief (and they lost any punch that they did have in the first game). Another party that was moved into comic relief was our beloved Sgt. Johnson. He was semi-realistic in Halo, but little more than a joke in Halo 2. It saddens me.

I can only hope that we get the real grunts back. The ones that could actually hurt you if you weren't careful and the ones that were only funny because they thought about things in a different light. No more cheesy comedy with my half-pint brothers!!!!
