Furrowing his eyes, Marcaes thought back on his lessons. Assitied by the picture in the ancient tomb on the desk, he called to mind fanciful stories of a trio of heroes, fighting legendary beasts, locking them away with the Sword of Mana. He frowned a little as he remembered, fixing Victor with a hard look.
"What are you saying? I recall the tales, but... I thought they were just legends. You mean to say they may be true?"
Lanka gave a slight snicker, enjoying the fact that her plan had worked. Not only had it worked but the leader was down and out. The only problem was that these beasts didn't act like normal wolves. Normally when the leader is taken down like that, the rest of the pack will either retreat, or cower back but still protect the leader. These beast apparently had very weak ties.
She glared at the one that still stood. She couldn't put all her attention on him as the other one was still a threat, just a weakened one, but this one... this was the one that had gotten her. He was strong, she knew it, but she bet she was stronger, not only that but she had better control of her self than these beast did. She just had to think first, and fast.
I can do this.
She dashed forward at the one that had thrown her, running on all four paws. He would expect it. she knew, but she had a plan. At the last second she spun around and kicked back with her powerful hind legs, instead of giving him a chance to attack her vital areas and catching him off gaurd. She then jumped back to her first postition doing a sort of twist-flip in the air to land facing her oppenents.

Victor nodded, as he heard the questions, taking the book with him. "Yes... it may be surprising, I know, but the book I found... it's just amazing, it's even older than Altena itself. I barely managed to find it, a few weeks ago..."
He sat on his bed, sighing. To the half-elf's eyes, it'd be obvious he looked tired... too tired, in fact. "I haven't managed to understand much of what is going on, but... Angela had her audience with the Queen last night, before the sun went down. Some of the soldiers were commenting about how the Mana the Queen uses would grow back in power again, and one of them even said she was lucky they weren't interested in using them as 'keys'... and when I checked the book, I only got a confirmation."
He made another motion for the book. "There... it says a seal is binding each Mana Stone, a seal that, usually, just leaks enough Mana to allow magic into the world... but these seals can be broken and allow even more Mana to be unleashed, at the cost of the Stone itself... meaning that, afterwards, the Stone is going to shatter into bits, its power gone forever. The book didn't go into much detail on what the magic was, but... it didn't look good," he admitted, his voice sounding rather broken.
However, footsteps started to sound behind them, and he cursed. "Damn! They must be coming for me... as the Princess' friend, they may think I know anything. You have to get out of here, Marcaes!" Victor told him, before getting up and giving him the book, closing it shortly after. "Find a way to Elrand, you may find some clues on Angela's location there," he added, moving towards the window.

Her attack succeeded... more or less. The Bound Wolf, apparently smarter than his companions, ducked under her leg and bit her... but the motion was too much for the weaker-blooded wolf to stop, and he was flung back shortly after hurting her, falling onto the ground painfully.
The other wolf was getting up, ready to attack again... but it seemed his wounds were too much, and he winced, staying still. It seemed the other wolf was more of a danger for now...

The city of Wendel was usually bustling with activity, though a few things stopped this day from being as hectic as most. One of them was the barrier formed around the main entrance to the city, the Cave of Waterfalls, due to the rumors of an invasion by the Beast Kingdom. While the rumors were unfounded for now, there sure were good reasons, such as the strange changes in the Mana patterns, that were the impetus behind the High Priest's decision.
One of the other reasons was that Carlie, the granddaughter of the High Priest, had disappeared, and the remaining Clerics were scattered across the city, trying to locate her. Due to this, they were also warning everyone to stay at home, at the risk of being possibly kidnapped as well.
What a situation... and for one who would be returning again, it was a problem. After all, the city of Jad had already been alerted, and due to this, those who came in could not head that way, since there was no reason to.
Meaning that Adellia was, now, stuck in Jad for the next few nights, until the High Priest decided it was safe to return. Unfortunately, Jad was not interesting these days, due to that.
Lanka took in the situation quickly. The one she had thrown into the leader was still quick hurt. It might defend itself if attacked, but otherwise she doubted it would come after her again. It might even run if the other was defeated. She would be done soon.
You first.
Dashing forward quickly she runs head on to the beast she just attacked. Lowering her nose again she rams it into the side of the stunned beast and continues to push forward. USeing all her might she lifts the beast up and throws it at the truck of a nearby tree. Turnign quickly she moves herself into a postion where can can watch her two remaining oppenents should they come at her.
Just great. Stuck in Jed. The kid just had to go missing now. Adelia thought as she wondered through the streets of Jed. Looking over the town, now that it was quiet. Nothing really interested her in town. Now with the normal traffic gone, Wendel being closed and all, it was even more so.
Just great. Couldn't I have just gotten here a little sooner. Walking into an inn she tells the receptionist "I'm going to be needing a room for a few nights. I don't know how long but it will be a few nights at least."
"You think that you can tell us apart? Many have tried, but then again, many have failed. What do you think the price for that is?" The Three Sisters Lylie-governess to a child of the first plain "You grew up. Thats a shame. The carousel never stops turning. You cant get off either. Its a shame."
Pulling his well cut, silver trimmed blue coat tight around his thin shoulders, Marcaes treaded along a relatively clear path cut into the dark, snowy forest. Hopping a snow drift, he couldn’t help but wonder why one would build a kingdom this far north in the first place. He loved his home, and loved the snow, but it seemed like a lot of effort for all this… white.
Flexing his fingers to keep them warm inside their gloved gauntlets, he hoisted his pack a little higher on his back, as he thought back to recent events. All his suspicions seemed to be coming true, and now Victor had even given him a book proving the old legends about the Mana Stones. A moment’s whimsy had him trekking toward the Subzero Snowfields, but he had quickly turned that idea around. He had quickly packed his bags and rushed out, leaving before anyone came to inquire about just how much he knew about Angela’s disappearance, and his clothing wasn’t anywhere near thick enough to brave the Snowfields right now. On his way now to the port of Elrand, he figured he could get there before nightfall if he wasn’t delayed by anything. Glancing over his shoulder, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was important enough for the castle to send a party after him…

Lanka's attack was successful, and the wolf fell down, completely out of energy. The other wolf glared at her, before doing a lunge, the wounds giving her a good opening.

The innkeeper took a long look at her, before nodding. "Why, yes, ma'am! Just go into the room to the side to sleep now," he told her, motioning to said room. Since the inn wasn't very large, that room in particular was a shared one... but well, from what she could see, it was empty.
Given how it was nighttime, it was better for her to go to sleep now, it seemed...

Marcaeus hadn't met anyone yet, but it was kind of obvious that there wasn't much interest in finding him yet... but well, going out in the cold morning wasn't a good idea, it seemed. The winds were just as cutting as usual, meaning that, if not for the covering he wore, he'd feel much worse...
Still, that day seemed awfully calm. Usually, Sahagins patrolled the location, but it was too silent... what could that mean? What an odd situation...

Lanka was mildly surprised. This thing should have run off by now to lick it's wounds. But here it was, doing a full out lunge at her with probably was the last of it's strength. Lanka couldn't help but smile.
Well, sense you insist.
Lanka stood up to her full height. She took a step to the side and extended her arm at the beast's attack. Cacthing it in its own attack she dug her claws into the beast stuff under belly and threw it back to where it had jumped from.
Alert now to the fact something odd was going on, Marcaes walked a little more quickly, glancing over his shoulder off and on. Some thought that all life was dead or sleeping, this far north in the snow and frost. Being a native of the area, he knew that there was always sounds of life, dashing through the fresh snow and swooping through the cold branches. However, today was quiet.
Too quiet… Did something happen? Where are all the creatures…? Clenching his fists in nervousness, he wondering just what was going on…

Lanka's attack was successful, and the last of the Bound Wolves fell down, defeated. Even though it had still tried one last strike, it wasn't enough, certainly.

Now that the enemies were gone, there was a better view of the path ahead... it seemed to lead in deeper into the Forest, but in this state, no dangerous smell came. It seemed safe...
(You may describe her transformation finishing now, due to the lack of enemies.)

For a good while of the walk, there was not a single creature around that he could see. Everything was quiet, indeed... too quiet to be sure.
Well, that was until smoke could be seen, from a distance, close to the water. That couldn't be Elrand; the city was still far away... but on the other hand, going there would probably make him take longer to reach that city, and even if it wasn't nighttime yet, the nights were cold in Altena.

Taking a look around the room, she takes off her cloak. I guess this is where I'll be staying for a while. She sits on a bed and takes off her shoes. Laying down on the bed she covers up and goes to sleep.
((ooc: I am sorry about the missed post. I had thought that I had posted.))

Lanka stood there for a moment still tense from battle. Waiting, wondering, maybe one of htem would get back up, though she doubted it. Slowly her heavy panting begins to slow. Has her breathing becomes more regular so does her body, slowyl her muscles relax and shrink back to their regular size. Her muzzle draws back into it's smaller form. Her height shortens slightly as she she stands staight again instead of slightly hunched over. All in a few moments she is back to her normal self.
She looks herself over. Her shirt is ripped quite a bit. She was used to that. She carried and extra for this very reason. And one skill she actually didn't mind learning so much was how to sew. True she wasn't the best, but she was able to keep her shirts from completly falling apart every time she transformed. Her pants were a little riped too, but nothing near as bad as her shirt. The slightly stretchy material they were made from made them quite restistant to her transformations.
Lanka looked further down the path. She had been drawn here because she had smelled death. She tought that maybe some one was hurt, that she could help them. She saw no one else though. The scent was all but gone giving way to the pure clean night air. She came to the conclusion that these bound wolves had been the ones giving off the scent.
She turned around and headed back to the town. She suddenly felt a little tired. That and her body had taken a bit of damage. She could smell her own blood though she could not see any wounds in her dark fur. Even still, it was not a good idea to give off the scent of blood. She would go back to town, find the inn and get a room. Depending on how tired she was when she got there he would mend her shirt before sleeping or when she got up.
Cocking a wary eye at the sky, Marcaes grudgingly turned off the path at headed towards the frozen lake. Night could come quickly and suddenly here in the north, with the glare off the snow disguising the fading light until it was too late. Combined with the bitter cold of being out in the open, he simply couldn't afford to risk being out, even if it did stall him on his quest to locate the princess.
Besides, maybe this will throw off any who might be looking for me...
Approching the fire carefully around a snow bank, the young mage prepaired a spell in his head, ready to power up if it turned out the source of the fire was hostile. It was unnaturally quiet out today, and he had already had enoung suprises...

(Adelia is paused.)
The night went on for a good while now, while the young woman rested.

Even though it was safer now, something *was* wrong. Those beasts were more mindless than usual, and they seemed to have attacked anything they met. Also, the fact that they were the only things nearby, yet no traces of combat were visible, was a problem...
...yet, she returned to the Inn. There weren't that many people out now, but they clearly noticed her... and a few of them took steps back. Most of them *were* peaceful, after all...
-=-
The path led to an encampment of people, though they were not from Altena; the outfits they wore were of colorful tones, and he could see that several of them were of a darker skin tone.
"So, what's the plan again?" one of the men asked, as he played with a dagger. "We run inside that maze, collect the loot, and come back to alert our boss?"
Another man nodded. "Yes, that would be right... of course, we are supposed to be avoiding the main city; they say that the monsters are nearing there for some reason, so to say..."
"Eh, I can't believe we let go of that pretty girl," a third one said, annoyed. "We had her right in our hands, and all we had to do was keep her... and yet, the boss told us to drop her right at the exit of Elrand and leave her be. That purple-haired lady ought to fetch a better penny than anything we find in that frozen place!"
"What's done is done," the second man said. "Besides, she's still in the city... we can go there a couple of days after this job and she's all ours."
Laughter came from the men around him, and he made a motion towards one of the tents. "Wench! More drinks!"
Thankfully, none of them had noticed Marcaes yet...
Lanka was not entirely surprised that the people out now were backing away from her. Her father had been a very impossing beastman, and even if she was only a half blood, she had inheireted his height. Not to mention she reaked for blood. She was walking fine so she was obviously uninjured, mostly. She had been in a fight and won. You don't mess with some one like that. That was common sense.
She got to the inn and sat down inside. She had to decide what to do. She was curious by nature, that curiousity had lead her to follow that scent of death, where even it had come from. Now she had only more questions abotu what had just happened. She was tired, a bit thirsty, and curious. Would she ask her questions now of the very few inhabitants of the inn, or wait tillto closest thing to morning when she would be fully rested.
Rest
Her mind was never razor sharp, but the fight had made her tired and that ment a dull mind. She would sleep on what happened, think it over a bit and maybe catch some rumors when she woke. Then she could ask questions. She began looking around. Right now she wanted two things. A large drink of something ice cold, preferably water, and a bed.

(OoC: Sorry, thought Artemi would reply...)
The inn was noticeably empty, tonight; there was only a man sitting behind the counter, waiting for customers. "Oh, hello there!" he greeted her, though his smile died a bit as he saw the blood. "Will you be staying here for tonight?"
Listening closely, Marcaes picked up enough to know that they could only be talking about Angela. It was a good thing they let her go; he knew where Elrand was, and wouldn't have to attempt any heroics trying to free her from a group of bandits. Turning to go, he noticed the tent rustle as someone came out of it. Pausing a moment to see if the occupant was anyone he knew, he resolved to leave here as quickly as possible. After all, he didn't want to be caught himself...

The innkeeper nodded. "Go to the third room from the left for your room," he explained. "As for water, you'll receive a glass soon."
-=-
The woman was not someone he knew, though she looked like she honestly didn't like being there. Still, making his way away from the camp was done with ease, thankfully.
A while later, he finally reached the crossroads that led to Elrand and the Labyrinth of Ice Walls. While the direction to take was obvious, there were a few Sahagins awake and definitely angry.
Marcaes stopped suddenly, as he came around the heavy snowdrift that had covered the path. Forced off the road slightly, he noticed the fish-like creatures had been using it as something of a fort, perhaps to ambush travelers. He ducked to the side quickly, hoping against hope that they hadn’t seen him…
Hearing the creatures shuffling around in the snow, the young mage could tell that, unfortunately, they knew exactly where he was hiding. Figureing they would be on him quickly, Marcaes tried to figure out what to do next. Running didn’t seem to be an option, so fighting it would have to be. Thinking back on his classes, he couldn’t remember if Sahagin were native to the snow drifts, or were simply wearing protections against the cold elements. Unable to form a solid decision, he simply decided to act.
“Noble Undine, grant unto me the gift of thy power! Ice Saber!” Pulling raw Mana from the air, the young mage quickly twisted it together, imbued it with the proper amount of his own personal energies, and sent it off as an offering to the Mana Spirits, hoping that she would answer quickly. --- Marcaes casts Ice Saber. He’ll be kicking some scaly tail next round, I suppose.
